    Bamboo Women's Loungewear

Eliot: a sustainable and 100% Italian fashion brand

    About Eliot

Eliot is a sustainable and 100% Italian brand born from owner and creator Mariachiara Giacomel's vision while breastfeeding her second daughter Tea. Not satisfied with the clothes she had in her closet nor with those she bought, she started developing what she couldn't find: Maternity Loungewear that is: extremely comfortable, high quality, practical and at the same time elegant and sustainable.

After studying, researching and touching many different fabrics, love at first touch came with a bamboo jersey, made by an Italian company, which creates high quality natural fabrics. With the resourcefulness of a close-knit team, and attention to both style and sustainability, the Eliot clothing line took shape, along with attention to the smallest details of a new design by a young Italian artist, Gabriele Ciot.
Every single step of production takes place in Italy in small, hand-selected, family-run companies, where manufacturing is still an art. All Eliot products are subject to strict regulations, including the Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex, a label that certifies that every component of the product, from the fabric to the thread and accessories, has been rigorously tested against a list of up to 350 toxic chemicals.
Refinement, quality, softness, comfort, passion, love, attention to detail is what Eliot wants to convey to those who wear their clothes.

    Why the name Eliot?

Eliot is the middle name of both of Mariachiara's daughters, which ties into the American side of the family. In the history of this branch of the family there was a woman who built her future by herself, and never gave up in the face of difficulties.
The inspiration for Eliot stems from her with an eye for the future of Mariachiara's daughters. She says "May they have the strength, the resourcefulness and the freedom to live in a better world."
You can find Eliot on their website, Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook.
Eliot sells its bamboo loungewear via e-commerce on the Eliot website and Instagram.

    Bamboo fabric and sustainability

Sustainability is one of Eliot's founding values. Eliot tries to be as sustainable as possible, helping to protect and leave a better world for those who will come after us.
Eliot Loungewear has been designed for walking, running, dancing, sleeping, breastfeeding… to enjoy life and last over time, not following the speed of today's fast fashion. Mariachiara feels women can play a key role in achieving an increasingly sustainable world.
Some bamboo fabric is made with a chemical process akin to the one used to make rayon. (The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires some bamboo-based textiles to be labeled as rayon, says Scientific American.)
Eliot imports bamboo from India, which is then transformed and processed in Italy using 100% processes that are sustainable for both the planet and workers.
The bamboo plant can grow with little to no human intervention, and is renewable. It needs very little water to grow as compared to a cotton plant that needs a lot of water.
The process Eliot employs for turning bamboo stalks into material involves a complex series of processes, all fully sustainable.

Cane or bamboo plant often cut and used to stake tomatoes, or cut into small pieces to make cannoli
